When you think of the interconnected forces of the yin and the yang, you might often think of the duality of light and dark, or fire and water. While opposing forces, they actually work in tandem to bring us all to homeostasis.
Today’s topic is nourishing our YIN energy. When you think of the yin qualities, you think of the darkness, the moon, the feminine, and going inward. While men and women both share yin and yang qualities, women represent the yin energy. All of the fluids a woman have, represent the coolness of the yin energy (breast milk, menstruation, vaginal discharge). So what happens if the yin energy is depleted? You will experience excess internal heat. This can be due to a lot of reasons (trauma, blood loss, poor lifestyle choices, and/or too many yang hot foods).
So let’s discuss the foods that will NOURISH YOUR YIN:
INCLUDE:
Millet & Barley-Seaweeds & Micro-algae (chlorella and spirulina)-Beans (kidney, mung, and black)-Fruits like apples, apricots, bananas, avocados, pear, persimmon, pineapple, and tomatoes-Vegetables like sprouts, artichoke, peas, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, & zucchinis
AVOID:
Dry and Bitter foods like citrus fruits and pickles-Refined sugars-Overly stimulating drinks like alcohol
I hope this helps encourage you to embrace your inner Yin. Let us know if you want us to post a Holistic Kitchen recipe on Yin foods!
